Air Quality & Climate Sustainability Administrator Position with the Denver International Airport

This position develops and implements air quality and climate action programs to enable achievement of DEN’s long-term strategic objectives including protecting the environment, preventing pollution, and systematically and proactively managing environmental risks. This position administers DEN’s Clean Air Act mandated Stationary Source Air Permit, as well as works to inform and implement DEN’s climate action strategy. Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leads DEN’s stationary source air permit and works hand in hand with operational staff to provide robust compliance activity.
  • Performs lead work on the contracting approach to engage consultant and contractor support to implement DEN’s stationary source air permit compliance program.
  • Serves as a SME on environmental requirements on the topics of Air Quality and Climate.
  • Leads DEN’s annual greenhouse gas inventories including quantifying scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and works toward accreditation with airport carbon accreditation (ACA) program.
  • Greenhouse gas reporting
  • Monitors and participates in air quality and climate local, state, and national initiatives, including regulatory rulemakings.  Tracks and supports implementation as needed.
  • Identifies and advocates for greenhouse gas and criteria air pollutant reduction projects, specifically within Scope 1 emissions (direct facility-based emissions.)
  • Conducts EV fleet conversion and charging infrastructure planning.
  • Monitors DEN’s refrigerant inventories, tracks refrigerant replacement projects, and manages regulatory reporting. 
  • Manages greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects.
  • Facilitates and coordinates program implementation with numerous and diverse internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Covers on-call spill and release follow up shifts as part of the on-call spill rotation.
  • Supports Multi-media compliance assistance program (MMCAP) inspections.
  • Contributes expertise to DEN’s sustainability and environmental programs including an Environmental Management System (EMS) that is certified to ISO Standard 14001:2015.
  • Other duties as assigned.
