Open positions available on the Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission

The Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission has open positions for members representing the regulated industry and government/academia.  Information about the commission is available on our website:  https://cdphe.colorado.gov/shwc

The commission is composed of 9 gubernatorial appointees representing regulated industry, government/academia, and the public-at-large. While commission members are selected from these sectors, members take into account the interests of all Colorado citizens. The commission generally:

  • promulgates and adopts rules pertaining to solid and hazardous waste, including recycling, composting, landfills, and waste tires.
  • sets fees and issues interpretive rules for solid and hazardous waste.
  • hears appeals of administrative law judges’ determinations regarding the amounts of administrative penalties for hazardous waste matters.

Commission members serve a 3 year term and generally have quarterly meetings.  Members are also confirmed by the Colorado State Senate.
