Climate disruption is here. It is past time for Denver to aim for zero waste citywide, build a circular economy, and implement the policies and programs envisioned in the Sustainable Resource Management Plan. CASR is seeking a Circular Economy Administrator to help lead the environmental policy work of the Zero Waste and Circular Economy team. The Circular Economy Administrator will oversee the analysis, development, and implementation of policies that support waste reduction, reuse and repair, recycling and composting, and circularity.
To be successful, the Circular Economy Administrator will establish relationships with other agencies, policy makers and advocacy groups throughout the metro area and at the state level, to track and better understand the implications of potential policy decisions.
The Circular Economy Administrator will research, analyze, and develop proposed policy solutions that advance waste reduction, waste diversion, and the building of a circular economy. This is a policy-making role with a heavy emphasis on interagency and regional collaboration that address consumption and waste diversion in the residential, municipal and commercial sector.
The Circular Economy Administrator plays a critical role in CASR’s Zero Waste & Circular Economy policy efforts, reporting to the Manager of this division. As such, the position will oversee development of new policies and implementation of existing programs such as the Skip the Stuff, Bring Your Own Bag, and Waste No More ordinances. The scope of work includes tracking State and regional zero waste policy, leading efforts to successfully navigate the Rules & Regulations process for relevant Ordinances, continuously identify and vet potential new policy actions, and monitoring and reporting on progress. The Circular Economy Administrator does have the potential to perform supervisory work, if necessary, although this work is not immediately required.
