The Front Range Waste Diversion (FRWD) board of directors is excited to announce an upcoming opportunity to apply for grant funds through a Request for Applications (RFA) process. We’re looking for shovel-ready projects that promote waste diversion in the Front Range of Colorado. Together we can achieve 39% waste diversion in the Front Range by 2026, and 51% by 2036!
The purpose of the upcoming Request for Applications (RFA) is to fund projects, sustainable beyond the grant period, which will enhance the financial viability of recycling, composting, reuse, repurposing, and waste reduction in Colorado and will create new jobs in the state. Preventing waste before it is created is the most effective reduction method (reduce), followed by reuse, and recycle. This is the 16th funding cycle for this RFA.

The purpose of this RREO rebate is to assist free public recycling drop-off sites by offsetting a portion of the transportation costs incurred by shipping recyclables to market or to a processing center. The rebate period covers costs incurred by drop-off sites from January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022.
The purpose of this RFA is to fund projects that lead to opportunities to divert waste from landfills. The intent of this solicitation is to offer “mini-grants” through a simplified application process for small-scale projects that meet the goals of the RREO program. Grant funds are available for equipment and supplies purchases.

This RFA introduces a change in procedure from previous offerings. FRWD RFA #BF083122 will utilize a new two-stage application process.
Reaching Colorado’s ambitious waste diversion goal will take the active participation of every Front Range community, resident, and business. A key aspect of this vision, as laid out in the 2016 Colorado Integrated Solid Waste & Materials Management Plan, is for every Front Range community to ultimately provide access to universal curbside recycling and compost collections for all residents, using best practices of bundling with trash services and incentivizing through volume-based pricing, also known as Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT). Realizing this vision requires each community to take multiple steps to advance up the “Zero Waste Ladder”.
