Front Range haulers and landfill managers are invited (RSVP required) to a stakeholder meeting with Senator Faith Winter and Senator Kevin Priola Thursday, January 10, from 4-5 PM at the State Capitol. Senators Winter and Priola have approached Recycle Colorado about running a bill this legislative session that would make a significant impact on improving the Front Range's diversion rate. The bill concept under consideration would:

1. Require Front Range municipalities and counties to work towards the state's diversion goals as stated in the Integrated Solid Waste Materials Management Plan.
2. Require Front Range municipalities and counties to implement strategies to reach these goals. Municipalities and counties may choose from a list of options of strategies to implement.
3. Provide funding for municipalities and counties to implement these strategies from an increase in the landfill tipping fee surcharge. The amount of this increase is still to be determined.

Front Range haulers and landfill managers are invited to participate in this stakeholder meeting to determine how best to implement the tipping fee surcharge increase.
