Boulder County’s Circular Economy Funding projects provide an opportunity for organizations and businesses to participate in Boulder County’s vision of becoming a zero waste community and closing the waste loop through circular economy practices.
Each year, Boulder County Public Works’ Resource Conservation Division (RCD) distributes $100,000 as part of its Circular Economy Funding Program (previously known as Zero Waste Funding). Private companies, non-profits, school districts, individual schools, and local governments may apply.
Examples of programs that might be considered:
- Waste prevention or waste-to-product initiatives, turning waste from one part of an operation or business into a resource for another
- Repair and refurbishment projects
- Operating supplies such as curbside toters or recycle & compost bins
- Zero waste education
- New technologies
- Reuse projects and infrastructure
- Redesigning consumer packaging to increase reuse or recyclability
- Any other project that aligns with circular economy principles
